29th ANNUAL  REPORT.

 

      I wish to take the permission of our honorable Chairman VMC to present the 29th Annual Report. Under the constant able guidance of our revered Chairman Brigadier S.B.Mahajan  the school has been able to strive ahead in all areas.

 

     The greatest of the honours received by the Vidyalaya has been the prestigious International School Award given to the school for three years. Our chairman Brigadier S.B.Mahajan has steered us through the rough waters and with the help of students , and a group of teachers it was possible . Ours is the only Kendriya Vidyalaya to win this award during 2010.

 

     Academically the year 2010 was very good with the results of class X having improved by 4.5% and that of class XII by 11% respectively. The performance index of class XII  went up by 14.66.In class XII(Sc) Master Abhishek Mishra secured 91.8% an improvement of 4.8% over the previous year while in class X Ms Manisha Satpathy secured a perfect 10 CGPA. The PI of English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology , Computer Science and History improved. In Biology the improvement was 18 units while in English it was 4.25 units. The teachers did their best to improve the results. My congratulations to all of them.

    

     Our staff has not been behind. Our UDC Mr. B.C.Das bagged the Regional Incentive award instituted by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan every year to meritorious staff.

 

     In the Biotechnology Olympiad held on 26.8.10 ,146  of our students appeared. Of them 5 students bagged  Gold medals,  and 1  the Bronze medal. Two  students Ms Sudipta Ghosh and Ms Aroshi Mitra  reached the 4rth state rank and 45th all India rank. A total of 13,300 students appeared in the All India level in this examination.

 

     In the 13th National Science Olympiad 2nd level ,11 of our students qualified and secured International ranks between 433 and 1840 . Quite good ranks for International ranks.

 

     In the Social Science exhibition our dance qualified for the Regional level competition.

 

    Our students are marching ahead towards serving our motherland by involving themselves in NCC. 4 of our students received the Sahara Scholarship of Rs 6000/= each. They are Cadets Abhishek Mishra, Diptangshu Bhattacharya, Prasenjit Choudhury, and Arjun Kumar Das.

     Our Kho-Kho team secured the 1st  position in the cluster as well as Regional Sports meet. Basketball boys team secured the runner-up position in the cluster meet. 4 boys were selected for the Regional basketball mixed team.They were Master Hari ChandanVerma, Samraj, Avinash Bal and Piyush Ranjan Trivedi.All from ClassXi Science.Master Anand Kumar Dhanuk class XI humanities was selected for the Kolkata Football Mixed team. In Tae-Kwando Master Biraj Thapa of class IX, Niladitya Dhali, Shivam Jain Rohini Singh, Kumar Gaurav Prasad and Bikash Prasad of VIII participated in the Regional competition.Master Biraj Thapa was selected to participate in the National Sports meet.Two students participated in the under 19 cricket tournament and Master Abhjit Das was selected for the National sports meet. In tug-of-war the boys team secured the 2nd position while the girls team secured the 3rd position. Master Sourav Suda and Akash Biswas of class X participated in the Regional Chess tournament.Eight students. Eight of our students participated in the National Sports meet. They are Master Abhijit Das Class XII (Hum) (U-19) cricket , Pawan Ghosh XII (Hum) TT,Master Biraj Thapa IX Tae-kwando, Ms Deepika Saini XI (Sc) Kho-Kho, Ms Sazhia Shakil X Kho-Kho, Ms Sapna Prasad X Kho-kho, Ms Ankita Prakash X Kho-kho , Shivangi Shukla XI (Hum) Throw Ball.

 

     Ms Karishma Dutta Class IX and Ms Sanjali Ganguly VIII won the 1st and 3rd prize in the Indian Public Health Association Art competition. In the Camel colour Contest a total of 518 students participated, 15 best prizes at the school level, 3 appreciation prizes at National level, 1 Regional level 3rd and 1 Regional level 1st prize were bagged. In the Science in life art competition Ms Antara Dey class III received the  1st prize, Master Shubhankar Dutta, V, 2nd  and Master Dipta Majumder IV 3rd prize. In the Chemold school of art competition, Ms Poulami Dev VIII received the 3rd position, Master Rahul Bhattacharjee X 5th and Master Souvik Majumder IX 7th position. In the art competition held at BITM on the occasion of Communal Harmony Master Souvik Majumder received the 1st prize. In the National Energy saving competition Mas. Souvik Majumder bagged the 2nd prize. During the Behala Book fair the Best Artist award was recveived by Mas. Dipta Majumder and Mas. Souvik Majumder. During the West Bengal  State students and Youth festival Mas. Dipta Majumder received the 3rd prize. In the TTIS Collage competition Ms Subhra Das VII received the 3rd prize. Our students also participated in the DVC power conservation competition and in the Statesman Art Carnival.

 

 

     The school has introduced a variety of CCA competitions so that more and more students could take part. Some of the new CCA activities introduced were Blowing of conch, Dumb Charade, Christmas Tree decoration, Quiz, House Board decoration, Flower Arrangement and Table Laying.

 

     It is a great achievement on the part of the Vidyalaya that 2 students Master Aryaman Gupta and Abhijit Pandey Class X have been selected in the National level Maths Olympiad.

    

     Two exhibits prepared by Ms Sanjali Ganguly, Shreya Shekhar and Anima Rai respectively represented the Kolkata region in the National level Social Science exhibition held at Bhopal.Master Abhijit Pandey represented the Kolkata region in Quiz. The team won the 3rd position at the Nationals.

 

     In the National science Congress organized by the DST and Govt. of India Master Abhijit Pandey and his team mates Mas. Arnab Sen, Vivek Prakash, Sidharth Nair, Anisha Roy, Suhaas Nandesh, P.Siva Teja were awarded the Gold medalThe guide teacher Mrs Rupa Mukherjee also received a certificate. The occasion was a wonderful experience for the students as the former President of India Dr. Abdul Kalam was present on the occasion.

In the Junior Science Olympiad Master Arnab Sen nad Kari Chandu qualified for the 2nd round of tests.

In the 13th National Science Olympiad 1st level examination 11 students were awarded with gold medals and selected for the 2nd level .These students were Ms Darshana Nair class II, Ms Swastik Tripathi class III, Masd. Anurag Pattanayak class IV, Mas. Biswajit Sarangi class V, Mas. Aditya Kulgond class VI, Mas. Debtanu Paul class VIII, Ms Lonica Ghosh class IX, Mas. Abhijit Pandey class X, Mas. Laganjit Paridha Class XI, Ms Madhushree Ghosh class XII.

In the 2nd level Ms Madhushree Ghosh scored 433. It was an excellent record. The next level award await her.

     Our Kho-Kho team secured the 2nd position in the Regional Sports meet. Two boys Master Harsh Upadhyay and Abhijit Das of class XI Sc were selected for the Kolkata mixed team.Master Niladitya Dhali and Gaurav Prasad bagged the 1st and 2nd position for  Taekundo (Light weight) in their respective category.9 students were selected for the KVS National meet 2009. Master Harsh Upadhyaya Cricket under 19, Master Abhisekh Upadhaya Chess under 19, Master Tushar Balodhi Boxing, Master Saif Imroz Badminton., Ms Pooja Kumari Sazia Shakil, Anjali Singh, Sapna Prasad and Manisha Choudhury For Kho-Kho. Master Tushar Balodhi bagged the Gold medal and went ahead to participate in the SGFI games .He also received a cash award from the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.

 

     Drawing and Painting achievements have been equally good. Students participated in the Hope foundation competition where Master Souvik Majumder and Master Rahul Bhattacharjee won the 1st Prize. In the same event students also received the 3rd and consolation prize.In the Camel colour contest students participated in all the 5 groups and won 3 prizes in each group .Students participated in the Statesman Voice Festival where Master Souvik Mazumder received the 2nd prize. Children participated in the Traffic Police Academy, Art Contest where Ms Maitrei Bhattacharjee received the 3rd prize. Students participated at the Indo American Society art contest where they bagged 10 prizes in the three groups. We participated in the LifeBoy’s Healthy Nation Drawing Competition. Children participated in various types of creative competitions such as T-shirt painting, Creative writing, Collage, Cartoon Drawing, Mask making and Quiz  organized by the TTIS .Master Souvik Mazumder needs special mention. He participated in the Sarbabharatiya Sangeet-O-Sanskriti Parishad,where he received the 2nd prize ;at the Kolka Phoolmela and received the 1st Prize ; at the Sarsuna High School Silver Jubilee Utsav and receive the 1st Prize ; at the Shri Arabindo Bhaban All India Child Art Contest and received the 2nd Prize.

     After a long gap a number of students participated in the Mathematics Olypmiad. One of our students Ms Ronica Singh has been selected for the next level examinations.For the last two years the school has been holding school level Maths Olympiad tests to give practice for the All India Level.

 

     In the Educational Assessment done by the Australian University of New South Wales our students fared very well. In Mathematics out of 21 students who appeared 11 got credits,science out of 19 students who participated 1 got a Distinction and 4 got credits while in English of 11 students 4 got credits.With great pride I would like to announce that one of our students Master Abhijit Pandey received a distinction in Science. Our congratulations to him.

 

     In the 4rth International Mathematisc Olympiad

 

     37 students participated in the Green Olympiad  organized by TERI. Master Rishabh Seal of class VIII was among the top 50 students in the City finals of the National Geographic Juniors.6 students participated in the All India Essay writing competition organized by the Ramkrishna Mission and  Sahaj Marg Research Training Institute.

 

    

 

     14 of our students from the 2010 batch have joined Technical Collages. One of our students Ms Garima Joshi is studying in NIT Durgapur.It is a great achievement .She has  brought laurels forherself, her parents and the Vidyalaya.

 

     Under the constant supervision of Md Sheik Salim, Assistant Commissioner and  Ms Chandana Mondal, Mrs Joyti Varma and Ms Usha A Iyer Education officers of the KVS (RO) the school is striving towards success.

 

     In the end I would like to say “ Do not follow where the path may lead ,Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail behind for others to follow.”
